MASON CITY | A Mason City man was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening a woman with a gun in an apartment.
Brandon Lee Hadacek, 27, is being held in Cerro Gordo County Jail without bond.
Mason City police were dispatched at 5:58 p.m. Monday to an apartment in the 1600 block of 10th Street Southeast for a report of a man threatening a woman with a handgun.
According to the criminal complaint, Hadacek was possession of a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol and allegedly pointed it at the woman to intimidate her.
Officers made contact with the people in the apartment, the Mason City Police Department said in a news release. Court documents said that when an officer made contact with Hadacek at the front door, Hadacek allegedly attempted to discard the firearm from his waistband and drop the firearm behind the door.
Hadacek was arrested shortly after.
Mason City Fire medics assisted at the scene. The woman appeared to have no serious injuries, police say.
A search warrant was executed at at the apartment. Police say they found marijuana in Hadacek’s bedroom as well as a glass pipe with white powder residue, multiple syringes and a glass bong filled with water and residue, court documents said.
Hadacek was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and going armed with intent. He was also charged with misdemeanor false imprisonment, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
No court date has been set.
