PLYMOUTH | A after a traffic stop arrest, a Plymouth man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and bringing contraband into jail.
A Cerro Gordo County Deputy pulled over a 1986 Dodge Ramcharger at about 10 p.m. Nov. 24 on the 24000 block of Raven Avenue.
The driver, Scott Allan Shafer, 45, was initially arrested for misdemeanor driving while license suspended/denied/cancelled, operation without registration and failure to prove security against liability.
His vehicle was subsequently towed as a result and an inventory of the vehicle was performed. During search, a meth pipe was located in the console of the vehicle.
According to court documents, upon arrival at the jail and after being informed of consequences of bringing illegal substances into the jail, methamphetamine was found on his person at the jail.
This was Shafer’s third or subsequent drug offense.
As a result, Shafer was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine — third or subsequent offense — possession and convey contraband in a correctional institution and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shafer is held in the Cerro Gordo County jail on a $10,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 5 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
