MASON CITY | A Mason City woman is accused of strangling a man she knew by putting him in a choke hold during an argument Monday.
Nora Jean Aguilera, 43, is charged with domestic abuse assault, impeding flow of air/blood.
According to court documents, Aguilera was arguing with an known man when she allegedly pushed him and placed him in a choke hold in an apartment in the 100 block of 19th Street S.W. about 8 p.m.
While the man was in the choke hold, Aguilera allegedly punched him in the face. Court documents said the man had a scratch on his neck.
A no-contact order was issued and later modified to allow her to return home.
Aguilera was released on her own recognizance. A hearing is scheduled in Cerro Gordo County District Court Feb. 2.
