MASON CITY | The execution of a search warrant led to the discovery of counterfeit money and drugs Monday night.
The find was reported Tuesday by the Mason City Police Department.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Monday the MCPD was dispatched to Godfather's Pizza, 1703, Fourth St. S.E., on a report that a customer attempted to pay with a counterfeit $20 bill.
After an investigation, a warrant was served at an apartment in the 200 block of Fifth Street Northeast. A search at the residence turned up another counterfeit $20, marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, according to the police.
The MCPD reports that another counterfeit $20 was discovered at a Mason City restaurant on Sunday, Oct. 8.
Both $20s have Russian text printed on them. On the back of the bills, under the image of the White House, it reads "Donetsk City."
