MASON CITY | A Mason City man has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.

Jeffery Landheer, 46, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of 140 years if convicted, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Landheer has been charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and six counts of possession of child pornography.

The charges are contained in an indictment unsealed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids.

The indictment alleges Landheer received child pornography between 2002 and 2016. He also is accused of having child pornography on six different devices.

Landheer appeared for a detention hearing Friday where he pleaded not guilty. The court ordered his release on bond. A pre-trial conference is set for May 1.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Tremmel and is being investigated by the Mason City Police Department.
