MASON CITY | A Mason City man has been arrested after allegedly showing an 11-year-old pornographic images in November.
Travis Jon Waslick, 45, is charged with two misdemeanors: dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident allegedly occurred about 6 p.m. Nov. 18, 2017, in the 200 block of 14th Street Northeast, court documents said.
According to the criminal complaint, an 11-year-old girl was visiting a friend at Waslick's residence when he showed her two pornographic images on his cell phone. Waslick is not her parent or guardian.
The child described the first picture as being a picture of a monkey with its mouth open next to a female's exposed genitals, according to court documents.
The girl described the second picture as a female with a male's genitals on her face, police wrote in charging documents.
The child told Mason City police that Waslick told her the second image was of a “blind unicorn,” court documents said.
A warrant for Waslick’s arrest was issued Jan. 17. Mason City police arrested him in the 1300 block of North Federal Avenue Jan. 28.
Police searched Waslick upon arrest, court documents said, and the search yielded a glass pipe in his pocket.
Court documents said Waslick admitted to an officer the pipe was his and that it is used for smoking methamphetamine.
He was taken to Cerro Gordo County Jail and was later released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was filed Jan. 29.
Waslick is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court Feb. 16 for the obscene material charge. A non-jury trial for the drug paraphernalia charge is July 30.
