CRYSTAL LAKE | A Crystal Lake man is accused of beating a known woman so severely she required transport to the hospital via helicopter, law enforcement says.
Christopher James Moore, 27, has been charged with felony domestic abuse assault in connection with the alleged incident Aug. 2.
A witness heard a woman yelling for help outside a window at her residence, a criminal complaint states. The witness told a Hancock County deputy she saw Moore throw the woman around and hit her several times in the front yard of the home.
Court documents say a neighbor told law enforcement he heard the alleged altercation from inside his home, and could hear "what sounded like screaming from a female and a male stating he would kill her."
Law enforcement had difficulty communicating with the woman, due to pain in her jaw and from yelling in pain when being touched, court documents say.
She was taken to Hancock County Health System, where it was determined she had sustained possible head and neck injuries, and transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa via helicopter.
No information was available on her condition Thursday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Moore, who has a previous conviction for misdemeanor domestic abuse assault, remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Aug. 11 in Hancock County District Court.
