GARNER | A Forest City woman is accused of stealing lottery tickets from her employer.
Kelly Lee Ann Berg, 37, has been charged with felony theft of lottery tickets. Police say she stole them while working for a Casey’s General Store in Hancock County on Aug. 11.
Video footage shows her taking eight tickets from the counter and going to her register, according to court documents.
“Her manager told her she could not buy them while working so they were all placed on the counter behind her,” the criminal complaint states. “Several hours later Berg can be seen picking up the tickets and placing them in her pocket.”
The manager reported being short eight tickets that day, court documents say.
Berg is also accused of misdemeanor theft for stealing four packs of cigarettes and three Monster energy drinks.
Court documents say she scanned the items at her register, voided the transaction and placed them in a bag before moving them to an employee cooler.
Berg is scheduled to appear in Hancock County District Court Oct. 19.
