MASON CITY — A man charged in the 1994 murder of a Mason City boy will be tried in October in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
Michael Cisneros, 37, formerly of Mason City, will be tried at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 22. A pre-trial conference is set for 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 8, according to online court records.
He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-month-old John Joseph Snyder Jr.
The boy was reported missing from the family’s apartment at 10 S. Adams Ave., by his father, John Joseph Snyder. The boy’s body was later found in Willow Creek.
A DNA sample taken when Cisneros was transported to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale in December 2012 matched DNA found on the boy’s pajamas, according to Mason City police.
Cisneros had been living in a residential treatment center in Dubuque when he was charged with the murder, in July.
Cisneros is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail under $500,000 bash-only bond.
