BRITT | A Britt woman has been sentenced to jail and probation after stealing cash from an assisted living resident.
Randi Jo Chipman, 35, was arrested Aug. 5 on a felony charge of third-degree burglary and a misdemeanor charge of dependent adult abuse.
BRITT | A Britt woman has been charged with entering an apartment at Summit House Assisted Living and stealing cash.
Chipman pleaded guilty to dependent adult abuse and was sentenced to 365 days in jail, with all but 10 days suspended, and two years’ probation. She was also ordered to pay a $315 fine and victim restitution, which has not been set yet.
The burglary charge was dismissed through a plea agreement.
While employed as a caregiver at the Britt assisted living facility, Chipman entered one of the apartments and took cash from a resident's purse, according to a criminal complaint.
A surveillance camera set up by the Britt Police Department in July recorded Chipman putting money from the purse into her pocket.
Chipman also allegedly admitted to taking a $50 bill the resident noticed missing in June, court documents said.
