An Arizona man has been convicted of charges stemming from poaching a whitetail deer in Council Bluffs in 2016.
Nicholas Slater, of Glendale, Arizona, was found guilty of seven charges, including hunting on a game refuge, not having a valid nonresident hunting license and habitat fee, and other related offenses, according to news release from the DNR.
The incident occurred on Nov. 19, 2016, at Manawa State Park in Council Bluffs.
Slater was fined a total of $7,061.95, according to the news release. His hunting privileges will also be suspended for three years in Iowa.
The DNR was assisted by the Arizona Game and Fish Department in its investigation.
