CHARLES CITY | Calling it an "undiscovered treasure," the Galleria in the Charles City Arts Center features a variety of artwork for sale.
The items range from raku pottery to "one-of-a-kind jewelry" to "beautiful functional pottery," said Nicole Phend, director.
"As far as two-dimensional artists, we have water colors, pastels and acrylic," she said. "We have tons of artists."
Most of the artists are local, but the art center also features regional artists.
"They've done it for 50 years or more," Phend said about the art center selling local artwork. "It’s part of our mission to create venues for local artist to display and sell their local work."
The Charles City Arts Center also carries some Melissa and Doug art supplies.
"It’s kind of an undiscovered treasure," Phend said about the Galleria. "Generally our traffic is for classes or exhibit openings."
She said the art center is constantly adding new merchandise and hopes the public checks it out.
The Galleria is open by appointment or during regular art center hours, which are 1-7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 1-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 641-228-6284 or visit http://www.charlescityarts.org/.
