MASON CITY — Volunteers with the St. Joseph Baby Pantry are seeking donations from the public for items ranging from clothing to diapers.
The Baby Pantry, located in the St. Joseph Catholic Parish Center, stocks diapers, baby clothing and other items to be distributed to those who need them, regardless of church affiliation.
Families are referred by local agencies, or call the church at 641-423-5001.
“It really serves a purpose,” said Mary Rigdon, pantry coordinator. “We get a lot of desperate mothers and grandmothers.”
Rigdon said the following items are especially needed:
• Socks — for children ages 2 to 8
• Toddler clothing — for children 2 to 5 years of age
• Baby wipes
• Baby wash
• Soap and toiletry items
• Baby beds and mattresses
Donations should be left at St. Joseph Parish Center, behind the church, at 302 Fifth St. S.E. A tax receipt will be sent to those who request it. Tax-deductible cash donations are also welcome.
