MASON CITY — No one was injured when an air compressor caught on fire at 6:06 p.m. Thursday at Aeron Advanced Manufacturing, 1511 S. Garfield Place, Mason City.

The Mason City Fire Department was called to the business for a fire, but the sprinkler system had it extinguished before firefighters arrived, according to the department.

When firefighters arrived they evacuated the building, shut off the water and replaced the sprinkler heads to get the sprinkler systems running again.

The fire damage was contained to the air compressor with some water damage in the building.

It was undetermined what caused the air compressor to catch on fire, according to the Fire Department.

The business continued to operate Thursday night with a back-up air compressor and had no intentions of shutting down, according to the Fire Department.
