DES MOINES | Five weeks before Republicans go to the polls to choose a U.S. Senate nominee, hopeful Matt Whitaker is launching his first television ad.
In the ad, the Clive attorney focuses on his time as a tight end for the last University of Iowa football team to play in the Rose Bowl and his time as a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa.
Hawkeye Coach Hayden Fry “taught us to always fight for Iowa,” Whitaker says.
He also reminds voters that as a federal prosecutor he put “thugs and predators behind bars."
“It’s important for Iowans to know that I have stood up for our state in the past,” said Whitaker. “If they elect me to the United States Senate, I will stand up to Barack Obama without wavering.”
Whitaker, the owner of several small businesses concludes the 30-second spot, which will run on broadcast and cable television, promising that if elected, “you can trust me to fight for Iowa.”
