CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) — Two people died after being thrown from a motorcycle in Cedar Rapids this weekend.

The accident happened Saturday night around 11:20.

Police say the motorcycle hit a speed bump on a bridge before colliding with a large cement flower pot. The 27-year-old male driver also hit the flower pot.

The 32-year-old female passenger flew off the bike and hit a light pole, shearing it off.

The driver died at the scene of the accident. The passenger died at an area hospital a short time later.

Police did not immediately release the names of the two people killed in the crash.
