BOONE, Iowa (AP) — Charges are pending against a man who police say threatened students with a knife outside of Boone High School.

The Des Moines Register ( ) says the man was taken into custody Monday afternoon. The incident happened in the school's parking lot. No students were injured.

Police spokesman John Sloter says the man was confronted by officers who ordered him to stop. Sloter says the man threw the knife at the officers and tried to leave the scene.

Sloter says officers used a stun gun to subdue the man. He says the man fell to the pavement and suffered a minor head wound, which required a stitch at the hospital.

A telephone call to school Superintendent Bradley Manard wasn't returned Monday afternoon.
