SIOUX CENTER | A teacher at Sioux Center Christian School was arrested Monday after police say he committed a lascivious act with a child who attends the school.
Curtis Van Dam, 35, of Sioux Center, was charged with felony lascivious acts with a child in relation to the incident last week.
He was also charged with misdemeanor lascivious conduct with a minor in connection to an incident approximately three weeks earlier, according to a news release from Sioux Center Police Chief Paul E. Adkins.
According to the release, a complaint was filed with police Wednesday of alleged inappropriate conduct between Van Dam and the student the day before. Police searched Van Dam's residence on Saturday, and he was arrested around 7 a.m. Monday.
Van Dam was booked into the Sioux County Jail, where he was being held on $5,000 bond.
The release said the investigation into the allegations is continuing, and additional charges are anticipated.
