CLEAR LAKE — A Forest City man was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Leo A. Steenblock, 62, was transported by Clear Lake Fire and Rescue to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. He was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Steenblock was northbound on I-35 between the mile marker 193 exit and the mile marker 194 exit, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.

This is a three-lane portion of the interstate, with the furthest two lanes closed for construction and blacked with orange cones.

Steenblock attempted to exit at mile marker 194 and went into the closed-off portion of the road and over the top of a portion of concrete that had been removed for construction, the report stated.

Steenblock’s vehicle went through a hole approximately 20 feet wide and two feet deep, according to the report.

He was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.
