FAYETTE – A Cresco man has been ticketed for allegedly Snapchatting while driving in a Monday afternoon three-vehicle crash that sent four people to the hospital.
Fayette County sherriff’s deputies said 18-year-old Logan P. Johnson was using Snapchat on his cell phone and looked up to discover the vehicles in front of him had stopped while one of the other drivers was waiting to make a left turn on Highway 150 north of town around 3:50 p.m.
Johnson’s 2005 Ford F-150 pickup struck a 2104 Jeep Cherokee driven by Paul Spies Jr. of West Union, and the Jeep then collided with a 2013 Chrysler 200 driven by 67-year-old Barbara Corbin of Wadena, deputies said.
The Jeep then entered the east ditch where it rolled once.
All three drivers and Spies’ passenger, Callie Ann Tope, 25 of West Union, were transported to Palmer Hospital in West Union for minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Johnson was cited for use of an electronic device while driving.
Fayette County deputies were assisted by the Iowa Department of Natural Rescources, Fayette Ambulance, Fayette Fire Department, and Tri-State Ambulance.
