Riceville's Chance Throndson kept his title defense alive Saturday as the prep wrestling postseason kicked off at a Class 1A sectional tournament at Clarksville.

Throndson rolled through the 145-pound bracket to reach this coming Saturday's district tournament. He finished with a pair of pins, including one in the title match, and a major decision.

Riceville had three wrestlers just miss advancing.

Adrian Kaski was third at 126, Cole Byrnes took third at 195 and Chris Eastman finished third in the 285-pound bracket.

Also for the Wildcats, Carter Mauer was fourth at 182 and Joseph Harris was sixth at 170.
