With a split-up squad on Saturday in a pair of different tournaments, Osage managed to bring home a few quality finishes out of its wrestlers.
At the Keith Vry invitational, freshman Averee Abben took second place in the 113-pound bracket. Abben breezed his way into the finals where he lost by a 3-0 decision vs. Don Bosco’s Michael McClelland. His teammate Colin Muller grabbed a fourth-place finish after falling to Benton Community’s Christian Atkinson in the 152-pound third-place match.
The Green Devils sent the remainder of their varsity wrestlers to the South Winneshiek Invitational.
Joe Sullivan scored a second-place finish at 113 after he fell to Decorah’s Kyzer Engen 12-8 in the championship match.
Zach Williams took home third place at 170 pounds, Joe Jacobs was fourth at 120, Brody Roll placed fourth at 138, Ryan Adams was fifth at 126, and Spencer Mooberry was fifth at 145.
Osage went 2-1 on Thursday night in a home quadrangular with four wrestlers going 3-0: Sullivan, Joe Jacobs, Brody Roll and Spencer Mooberry. The Green Devils beat Newman 48-36 and St. Ansgar 48-26, and lost to West Hancock 42-39.
