The Osage wrestlers went 1-2 on Friday, Dec. 22, before heading into the winter break.

The Green Devils dropped a 57-23 dual to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, followed by a 45-27 win over Forest City. Osage closed the night with a 71-9 loss to New Hampton-Turkey Valley, the top-ranked team in Class 2A.

Averee Abben, wrestling at 113 pounds, finished the night 3-0, including a pair of pins and a win by decision.

Zach Williams, at 160, went 2-0 with wins by technical fall. Williams wrestled up a weight to 170 pounds against Forest City, winning by pinfall.

The Green Devils return to action on Thursday, Jan. 4, at home against Nashua-Plainfield and West Fork. The Top of Iowa Conference tournament is slated for Saturday, Jan. 27, in Forest City. Sectionals follow on Saturday, Feb. 3, in Clear Lake.
