It was a week of milestones for the Osage volleyball team.
After a 3-0 sweep of Rockford and going 5-1 at the Waverly-Shell Rock tournament, senior Kelsey Havel reached 1,000 kills and junior Rylie Olson reached 2,000 assists.
And it’s not even post-season yet.
On Tuesday, the Green Devils swept Rockford 25-17, 25-12, 25-10.
Behind Olson’s 39 assists, Havel led the hitters with 13 kills and senior Brenna Jacobs came second in line with 10 kills.
Jacobs and Havel each had five digs, on back-line defense, while junior Sydney Midlang led the front line of defense with three blocks out of a team total of eight. Jacobs, Havel and Midlang would also rack up two aces each.
At the tournament, the numbers piled up as the Green Devils racked up wins over Denver, No. 4 in class 5A Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Solon, No. 11 in class 3A Dyersville Beckman and Nevada.
Their only loss would be in three sets to No. 3 in class 2A Grundy Center, 17-21, 23-21 and 8-15.
Olson led the way with 127 assists, went 47-for-48 serving, and added 17 total blocks and 26 digs on defense. Havel racked up a team high double-double with 40 kills and 53 digs while also adding 14 total blocks. She went 46-for-47 on serving, including four aces. Freshman Dani Johnson racked up 26 kills, 28 total blocks and 21 assists. Jacobs amassed 22 kills, 42 digs and three aces on a 51-for-55 serving performance. Midlang also had a high triple-double performance with 21 kills, 22 total blocks and 17 digs.
Junior Kourtney Chambers held the team-high for aced serves with six.
The Green Devils were scheduled to play at home against Northwood-Kensett on Tuesday, scores were not available at press time. They will follow up with an away game at Mason City on Saturday, Oct. 7.
