St. Ansgar will send one runner to state for the girls.

Junior Addy Carlson finished in sixth at the state-qualifying meet in Eagle Grove with a time of 21:08.16. Placing as an individual in the top 15 means that she will advance to state.

“My goals were just to get top 15 and really run my race and not get in my head,” Carlson said. “It was a good time, I didn’t have a time in mind, but it was good.”

While most saw the hills at Eagle Grove as tough, Carlson embraced the challenge.

“The hills were nice because it’s not a boring course,” Carlson said. “I like the hills because then it’s not just flat and I don’t like get bored. The hills helped a lot, going down them just helped to get a boost to go back up them and mentally, it was my strongest race.”
