OSAGE | Over 130 area adults and children started their Fourth of July by running or walking for a good cause.

The cause was the Osage Education Foundation's Third Annual “On the Run for Education” 5K and 1-mile Run/Walk.

The top three overall and top three male runners were John Kresbach, 29, Cedar Falls, 18:04; Adam Mayer, 31, St. Ansgar, 18:15 and Brett Barker, 21, Osage, 18:29.

The top three female runners were Emma Davison, Mason City, 21:15; Isabel Johanns, Nora Springs, 23:16 and Melanie Lund, Savage, 23:30.

Rounding out the top ten female runners were Breana Barker, 18, Osage, 23:39; Julia Bobinet, 19, Osage, 23:39; Ailey Brehmer, 38, Osage, 24:30; Donna Leff, 31, Blue Earth, 24:22; Jessica Hanson, 41, Radcliffe, 24:24; Angie Kaney, 37, Bettendorf, 24:30 and Stacy Haddad, 35, Hawthorn Woods, 24:28.

The top 10 overall runners were Kresbach, Mayer, Barker, Ben Huftalin, 18, Osage, 19:50, Lucas Maakestad, 20, Osage, 20:10; Riley Witt, 13, Osage, 21:05; Micah Fannin, 43, Omaha, 21:08; Emma Davison, 17, Mason City, 21:15; Joel Morris, 36, Osage, 21:40; and Adam Brinkman, 22, Manly, 21:49.

For the one-mile walk, the top walkers and top female walkers were (adults) Shawn Kmetz, 36, Cedar Rapids; and (children) Jacey Johnston, 9, Osage; and Scarlett Byrnes, 9, and Mylie Howe, 9, Osage.

For the guys, the top three walkers were Kmetz, Darrow and Darrow.

The top 10 overall walkers were Kaylie Havig, 9, Osage; Mylie Havig, 9, Osage; Dace Darrow, 8, Osage; Brett Darrow, 36, Osage; Mike Lewis, 59, Osage; and Jim Wherry, 60, Osage.
