OSAGE | During a special session, held on Monday, May 7, the Osage Schools Board of Education approved a new hire and two resignations.
The board approved the hiring of Sarah Leichsenring as curriculum director and approved the resignation of Michelle Dohlman as high school guidance counselor and Laura Wynohrad as teacher assistant.
The Riceville School District and the Osage School District are sharing Leichsenring 50-50 with Osage holding the contract.
According to Osage and Riceville Schools Superintendent Barb Schwamman, Leichsenring's work will be independent in each district as each district has very different needs.
Leichsenring is currently working for the Forest City Schools as an Instructional Coach. She had been a middle school social studies teacher in Forest City. Leichsenring also had been a high school teacher at Mason City High School and a high school teacher at Central Lee in Donnellson. She has also coached various sports at various levels.
Dohlman was hired as the new full-time, Pre-K-12 guidance at Riceville Community Schools. This is not a shared position with Osage. The position will need to be filled at Osage High School.
