The city recently offered a survey to residents about what they want to see in the future of Osage to help them put together their comprehensive plan. The Chamber was mentioned by name a few times and I’m thrilled to have some feedback from our community.

Someone mentioned wanting stores to remain open later as they work out of town and are unable to get back before the shops close. Starting in February, the last Thursday of each month, chamber stores will remain open until 7 p.m. This also aligns with the Home Trust & Savings Bank movie night at the Watts Theater. We’re hoping to incorporate some other activities during the summer months with these ‘Last Thursday’ events, so stay tuned!

Another survey also mentioned how they are glad the chamber has provided more events in recent years, and wants to see that continue. Besides the addition of ‘Last Thursdays’, February 1-3 is our Cabin Fever promotion. Think of this as a ‘Ridiculous Days’, but in winter, and a great reason to get out of the house! Our member stores will have a variety of sales on different items. Plus, Valentines Day is right around the corner so you can get your shopping done for your sweetie while you’re out and about!

Saturday, March 24, we are hosting the Blue Jean Ball at the CRC Events Center, featuring music by fellow Iowan, Cody Hicks. If you haven’t heard his music, I suggest checking him out! He’s sure to put on a great show. This event was previously the “Big Event”. This event helps benefit the Osage Chamber of Commerce, as funds raised will help us to promote more of Osage and host more events and programs such as these. You can get tickets to this event at the AmericInn Hotel & Suites in Osage or at our office at 808 Main St, lower level of City Hall. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and each ticket redeemed will be entered into a raffle during the event.

Feel free to share any ideas you may have for new events – we’d love to hear them! You can reach us by calling 641-732-3163 or emailing
