Dear Editor,

I am writing this because I feel as though there are some problems with what our president is doing. I am a part of the Current Issues class at Riceville High School.

Our class has been doing some research on Trump and what he is planning on doing with the budget. I think Trump should consider rearranging the budget’s money some other way. Maybe by cutting a different department that is hardly used.

I have looked at a few websites. Trump wants to rearrange the money he has in certain budgets and groups. According to Los Angeles Times, it states Trumps wants to see the healthcare budget cut, but $5.8 billion all the way up to $25.9 billion.

It also states Trump wants to get rid of the grant that is $4.2 billion, a grant that is used for the people who can’t afford to go to the doctor, so it helps with their expenses. There is big part of the budget that is used for training for the doctors, instead of the $400 million, they could just cut that by a little and use the rest on the people who can’t afford to go the doctor.

He wants to cut down the healthcare budget. I personally think that he should keep the healthcare budget the same, and transfer money from a different department.

The reason is because I think the healthcare department is struggling and they need all the money they can. Lastly, because the healthcare department could use the money for researching things, such as cancers and diseases.

Overall, I think Trump should think about considering the budget the way it is now. Just leaving the healthcare budget the way it is.

Sincerely,

Jenna Schneider
