Over the past year, Mitchell County Regional Health Center has assisted patients in navigating through the significant changes occurring around the Iowa Medicaid program.
Currently, there are three options in the state of Iowa for those seeking healthcare through Medicaid: Amerihealth Caritas, Amerigroup and United Healthcare.
MCRHC currently has contracts with all three companies; however, there is potential change on the horizon.
Amerihealth Caritas has sent Mercy leadership a termination notice effective July 1, 2017. Although this has been sent, Amerihealth and Mercy remain in negotiations and have until that date to reach an agreement.
At this time, this will not impact patients with Amerihealth insurance who are seeking healthcare at MCRHC.
Our team at MCRHC is waiting to see the results of an agreement, and, if necessary, will work with patients to assist with any necessary carrier changes beginning May 1, 2017.
MCRHC providers intend to continue to provide healthcare services to any patient with the Amerihealth coverage. In the meantime, I will continue to communicate our progress with Amerihealth to our patients.
