Halloween is over and whether we like it or not, the holidays will be here very soon. We kick off our holiday season by hosting the Holiday Open House November 10-12, which many of our retailers will be participating in. I would highly recommend checking out some of the great deals being offered right here in Osage.

During the Holiday Open House, we will also have a Holiday Scavenger Hunt. Pick up a clue card from any of our members’ businesses. Solve the clues to find which store has Frosty’s hat hidden in it. Return your completed card to any of our businesses by Monday, Nov. 13, by 9 a.m. and one lucky winner will receive $50 in chamber bucks. The Holiday Open House will also be the opening weekend for the Great Holiday Giveaway, which 30 lucky winners will receive $50 in chamber bucks. The entry period runs from November 10 through December 2, and entry forms are available at our member businesses. The Great Holiday Giveaway is generously sponsored by Home Trust & Savings Bank, First Citizens Bank & CUSB.

November 25 is another big day for Osage businesses – It’s Small Business Saturday. This is something I really hope the whole town will celebrate. We are so lucky to have the variety of businesses in town that we do and this event was specifically designed to help small businesses thrive following the 2008 recession. Come visit me at 601 Main Street next to Shelter Insurance. I’ll have some breakfast items to get the day kicked off right and some other freebies. Also, from 10-12 you can take the kiddos to visit with Santa at Shelter Insurance, located at 601 ½ Main St.

Magic on Main is our final big event of the year. On Friday, December 1, we’ll be holding our tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. next to Home Trust. Carriage rides will operate from 3:30-6:30 p.m. and Santa will be available for photos, again at Shelter Insurance, from 5-7 p.m.

Also, a reminder Chamber bucks are always available for purchase through the chamber office. My office is located in the lower level of City Hall. These are a perfect holiday gift, and a great way to support local businesses. Chamber bucks can only be spent at Chamber businesses – meaning that your money remains in our local economy.
