OSAGE | Shop on State, Osage, will be permanently closed after Tuesday, Oct. 31. The announcement was made on the store's Facebook page, on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Donations are no longer being accepted at the store. However, the store is open during its regular hours this month.
The closing was confirmed by Shop on State board president, Sister Millie Leuenberger.
Luenberger said there were several factors which lead the board of directors to make the decision to close the store.
Those reasons, for the closure, included the need for the store to downsize and relocate to a smaller store, due to the store's lease expiring on Oct. 31. An alternate location has not been found; the retirement of the current manager, with no replacement being found; and the need for more volunteers to work at the store.
The store opened in May, 2009, as a thrift store, with non-profit organizations in Mitchell County.
Since it's beginning, Shop on State has distributed almost $450,000 to Mitchell County non-profits.
