CRESCO — A total of 67 Osage fifth graders and staff attended the 11th annual Inspire Day at the Norman Borlaug Farm, rural Cresco, along with students from neighboring school districts, on Friday, Sept. 15.

The event was held in conjunction with the annual Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest held on the grounds of the Norman Borlaug Farm.

Throughout the day there were stations which involved learning about Borlaug’s life, one-room school house, Borlaug’s legacy and his Nobel Peace Prize, Iowa Flood Project, Iowa Corn Biofuels trailer, ISU Insect Zoo, plant breeding, energy conservation, ISU College of Ag & Science.

In addition, the students participated in an outreach food packing event, a geocaching activity and toured the Norman Borlaug Home.

"This was a great outdoor day for our student," said Osage Fifth Grade teacher Audrey Christensen. "We had many opportunities to learn about Norman Borlaug and all he did to feed our world."
