MITCHELL | This past summer a housing study was completed encompassing the areas of Mitchell County. One notable community was the City of Mitchell. In this study, the comment was made, “Mitchell has a lot of potential for growth” and “Mitchell has some amenities for new housing.”
The City of Mitchell is attempting to put its best foot forward. Over the past three years, concerned citizens have raised the funds to refurbish the basketball/tennis courts, raise monies for the autistic playground equipment and the latest addition to this recreational area is the addition of a 20-foot by 30-foot shelter house.
This shelter house was made possible by grants from the Worth County Development Authority, the Foundation for the Enhancement of Mitchell County, with a 25 percent match coming from the City of Mitchell.
Young families looking to live on an “acreage,” should consider the community of Mitchell. Large lots, natural gas and raising a limited amount of livestock is permissible in Mitchell. And be sure to check out the growing park in downtown Mitchell, it is a lovely and practical addition.
