GBball Mason City vs. Keokuk State Semi 5

The Mason City band plays during the Mohawks’ semifinal game against Keokuk on March 4 in Des Moines.

The Mason City High School Instrumental Music Department's Orchestra and Band Extravaganza is Monday, Oct. 23, at the high school.

The evening begins with a concert by the String Orchestra at 6:45 p.m. in the Mohawk Performance Hall in the FEMA Safe Room, under the direction of Malcolm Burke.

At 7:30 p.m., the MCHS Bands will perform in the gym, lead by Sam Bills and Russ Kramer, assisted by percussion coach Aaron Anderson and assistant director Malcolm Burke. 

A percussion ensemble will also perform, followed by Jazz Band I. The Marching Mohawks will perform their pre-game and halftime football shows.

An all-you-can-eat Dad's Belgian Waffle Supper, sponsored by the Instrumental Music Boosters, will be 4:30-6:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $8 for adults. Children age 5 and under are free. Take-out will be available.
