MASON CITY — The Historic Park Inn had other unique visitors on Monday.

A group of 35 landscape architecture students from Iowa State University visited the hotel to photograph, draw and write about a favorite part of the building, a hotel spokeswoman said.

“The students said they were on a 28-day tour of the northern United States,” said Carla Robinette, hotel travel director.

“They were instructed to find one part of the building that they found interesting.”

The students were observed drawing the Historic Park Inn from the outside, then toured the inside as well, Robinette said.

Their tour would end in Chicago, she said.
