The Winnebago County Conservation Board will host its annual Winter Stargazing program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the entrance to Thorpe Park.
Naturalist Lisa Ralls will give an informal tour of the winter sky, pointing out some of the brighter stars and constellations visible this time of year, including Orion the Hunter, Taurus the Bull, Auriga the Charioteer, the Gemini Twins, and Leo the Lion.
Hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the park office after the program. Thorpe Park is located five miles west of Forest City on 345th/”I” Street.
Dress for the weather and bring a pair of binoculars if possible. For information, visit the WCCB Facebook page, or contact Ralls at 641-565-3390 or email@example.com.
