FOREST CITY – The North Star Athletic Association recognized 317 scholar athletes for the 2015 fall academic season, including 39 from Waldorf College.

 The 317 recipients, participating in football, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s cross country were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the playing field.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic NSAA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must achieved a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.

Jamestown, North Dakota, led the way with 59 total scholar-athletes, followed by Presentation, South Dakota, with 54 scholar-athletes. Viterbo, Wisconsin, registered 47 scholar-athletes this past fall, while Waldorf recorded 39 scholar-athletes. Dakota State, South Dakota had 30 scholar-athletes, followed by Dickinson State, North Dakota with 27 scholar-athletes, Valley City State, North Dakota, with 24 student-athletes, Bellevue Nebraska with 21 scholar-athletes and Mayville State, North Dakota, 16 scholar-athletes.

Here are the Waldorf scholar athletes, by sport.

Football – Adam Buehler, Jonathan Black, James Campos, Connor Curran, Joshua Forrest, Preston Landon, Anthony Romualdo, Tanner Rousch, Josh Sauren and Dustin Wilke.

Volleyball – Kayla Budgins, Abigail Buehler, Danica Cheney, Erica Fee, Brooke Hagen, Brianna Haugen, Molly Minich, Kaitlyn Monck, Genie Payne, Megan Perkins, Valerie Rivera, Isabelle Rothbauer, Odedah Stewart, Briley Sullivan and Mandy Toman.

Men’s Cross Country – James Blankenship, Adam Brinkman, Cody Clark, Eithan Esensee, Jesse Varga, Aaron Ward and Alden Zeller.

Men’s soccer – Daniel Hernandez Lopez and Catario Martinez.

Women’s Soccer – Chloe Schmaltz, Julia Osborne, Bittney Thornton, Charlotte Madrid and Ashley Carmichael.
