The Forest City volleyball team continued its strong start to its season last week with a pair of victories. The Indians defeated North Union in three sets Thursday, 25-14, 26-24, 25-16, after getting past Garner-Hayfield Tuesday, Aug. 29, 25-12,25-9, 23-25, 25-14.
In their win over North Union, Hannah Anderson guided the Indians' offense with a match-high 15 kills and was 13 of 15 at the service line with two aces. Cora Holland added nine kills, five digs and was 13 of 14 with three aces, and Kelsey Koch had six kills, eight digs and was 12-12 serving.
Additionally, setter Brea Dillavou racked up 22 assists, had seven digs, and was 13-14 with three aces. Kaylee Miller and Emma Segerstrom had five kills apiece.
The Indians had to work a bit harder in their win over GHV with the Cardinals taking a tight third set, but still managed a win.
Forest City used its balance on offense to help it to the victory. Segerstrom finished with 11 kills on the night to lead the Indians, Holland had 10, and Koch and Emma Hovenga added nine apiece.
Dillavou was outstanding setting the ball as she handed out 41 assists and added 12 digs.
Koch had a team-high 17 digs and Holland finished with 11.
