Forest City capped off its first week competing on the mat with a sixth-place showing at the Humboldt Joe Fitch Invitational on Friday.
Will Krischbaum and Kristian Gunderson turned in the top performances on the day for the Indians. Kirschbaum feel to second-ranked Shea Ruffridge of Pocahontas Area in the 126 final to take second place, and Gunderson was second at 145 pounds after a 5-2 loss to Sheldon-South O'Brien's Dakota Johannes.
Brock Moore added a fourth-place finish at 106, Austin Kelso ttok fourth at 220, Wyatt Gelhous was fifth at 113, Kaleb Umbaugh was fifth at 120, Maximos Soto took fifth at 152, Jacob Trunkhill was fifth at 182, Gabe Staudt was fifth at 195, and Evan Larson scored a fifth-place finish at 285.
The Indians opened their season last Thursday in a quadrangular at Hampton-Dumont with H-D, Algona and St. Edmond.
Forest City finished the quad 2-1 with wins over Hampton-Dumont (45-27) and St. Edmond (75-6). their lone loss came in a 51-27 defeat vs. Algona.
Moore, Gelhaus, Kirschbaum, Soto and Gunderson were each 3-0 on the night for the Indians.
The Indians compete at a tournament in Algona on Saturday, Dec. 9. Matches begin at 10 a.m.
