MANLY | The Forest City boys cross country team added another solid team performance in the Central Springs Panther Invitational last Thursday in Manly.

The Indians scored 62 points to take second place in the team race, behind only Newman, which won with 26.

Grady Hovenga led Forest City with a sixth-place finish in 17 minutes, 48.6 seconds. Ryan Theel added a 13th-place finish in 18:36.7, Javin Pedelty was 16th in 18:39.2, Isaac Sand placed 19th in 19:08.7, and Caleb Buffington rounded out the scoring in 22nd with a time of 19:24.9.

Three of the Indians' scoring runners - Pedelty, Sand and Buffington - are freshman.

Also for Forest City, Randy Vaughn was 34th (19:50.2) and Zach Lehmann was 35th (19:51).

In the girls' race, Vicky Chen secured the Indians' only top-10 finish as she placed sixth in 21:34.8. Forest City finished fourth in the team standings with 92 points.

Hannah Buffington just missed the top 10 as she placed 11th in 22:07.9, Hanna Good was 22nd in 23:04.4, Anna Lehmann took 24th in 23:11.5, and Abigal Wirtjes was the Indians' final scoring runner after placing 34th in 24:22.6.

Also for Forest City, Anna Weaver was 40th (24:54.1) and Carena Lechuga was 57th (27:07.1).
