The Epistle text for this Sunday is found in Philippians 4:1 and 4-9 - “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.”
Let’s all take a lesson from Paul and stand firm in our faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ.
There are things that happen to all of us that at times seem to knock us off balance when it comes to our faith and trust in the Lord. Perhaps you may be going through a time in your life where it seems as if the rug has been pulled out from under your feet right now and all you see is darkness ahead of you.
If you are, take courage my friend, you are not alone. God is with you always even in the dark valleys of life.
Like Paul, learn to rejoice in the Lord during these times. Stand on the promise that the Holy Spirit will lead you through the darkness and trust in Him to bring you back into the light.
When you put your trust in the Father’s love fear will have no room to grown. The peace of God will protect your heart and mind. When you put your life in God’s hands you are allowing His omnipotence to become your power over all things giving you the victory over any trial or tribulation you may face.
Let the joy of the Lord be your strength and abide in His love, joy, and peace.
