Frances P. Adams

Rockwell City – Frances P. Adams, 84, formerly of Forest City, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Hoover Mossman officiating. Visitation and viewing will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until service time.
Frances is survived by her husband Robert; daughter Pam (Noel) Heimdal; sons, John (Holly) Adams, and Robin Adams; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Gretchen, Mark, and Amanda; 14 great-grandchildren, Megan, Sara, Katlyn, Jake, Jasper, Kassara, Dylan, Emma, Mark IV, Lily, Aiden, Haley, Jaci, and Zack; one great-great-grandchild Hadelyn; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Peggy Sue and her husband Mark Mary III; her parents, Valentine and Hazel (Hurd) Kiefer; and her nine sisters and brothers.
Frances Pauline Kiefer Adams was born January 28, 1933 in Ellington Township, Hancock County, Forest City, Iowa. She attended rural school, and various city schools. Frances lost her parents in 1944 and grew up in her brothers and sisters homes. On June 4, 1949 she was united in marriage to Robert Adams at the Methodist Church parsonage in Forest City. The couple made their home in Forest City. Frances was employed by the Central Iowa Telephone Co. as a telephone operator from 1950 to 1954. While living in the Happy Hollow addition in Forest City, she was employed by Great Western Products part time and later full time from 1970 until her retirement. Her favorite hobbies were traveling with her family on summer vacations, camping, gardening, fishing, sewing, and being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her favorite toy, her golf cart.
Frances was a member of Women's Society of Christian Service, later becoming United Methodist Women, and various Circles, always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. In 1973, Frances and Bob and three of their children took a European trip to visit their daughter Pam and her husband Noel and granddaughter Jennifer in Berlin and traveled extensively. In 1989, the couple's youngest daughter Peggy Sue Mary and her husband Mark Mary III were killed in an automobile accident near Fertile, Iowa, and the Adams were joined at their acreage by grandchildren Mark Mary IV and Amanda Sue Mary.
