WODEN | A Scarville resident is accused of threatening a known man with a knife in rural Woden.

Jacob A. Schimmelphennig, 30, who was arrested Dec. 18, faces a felony charge of domestic abuse assault (third or subsequent offense) and misdemeanor intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

Schimmelphennig on Dec. 11 grabbed a knife from the man's kitchen and pointed it at him at chest level while walking toward him, according to a Winnebago County Sheriff's Office criminal complaint.

The man "was cornered and felt his life was in danger," the complaint stated.

Schimmelphennig also has been charged with felony dominion or control of a firearm or offensive weapon as a domestic abuser and misdemeanor third-degree theft.

Officials say he transported a stolen 12-gauge shotgun to the man's house between Dec. 1 and Dec. 17 and stored it there.

The man turned the gun over to the sheriff's office because he feared it had been stolen, according to law enforcement.

Schimmelphennig has two prior convictions of domestic abuse assault, one in Hancock County in 2010 and the other in Winnebago County in 2014.
