FOREST CITY | Tanner Hughes, recently appointed assistant baseball coach at Waldorf University, wants to share his love of baseball with the community in Forest City.

Hughes is offering private lessons to anyone wanting to learn a little more about technique and work towards a goal. “I really want to share my love for the sport, and be more of a part of the community” Hughes said.

Hughes, who came to Forest City from Jeffersonville, Ohio, has played baseball for most of his life, including Ohio Dominican University and Ohio Valley University, which are both Division-II schools. Hughes has a bachelor’s degree in English.

During the summer, he is an area scout for the Rockland Boulders. Hughes is currently working on his Master’s Degree in organizational leadership and sports management, while coaching at Waldorf. In his first season at Waldorf, he has started to make relationships with the team as well.

“Hughes is a great coach, and a great guy who has a lot of advice to help our game,” said Waldorf University junior, Mitchell Keeran.

Hughes is able to teach pitching, hitting and defense to all ages. For more information on times, pricing, and any questions contact, Tanner Hughes by email: or by phone at 740-463-9920.
