Forest City Christmas, sponsored by the Forest City Chamber of Commerce, returns this Saturday.
Here are four things you don’t want to miss during the annual event:
1. Horse-drawn carriage rides.
Grab a hat, put on your gloves and cuddle up under a blanket while riding around Clark Street in a wagon pulled by horses. Be sure and wave to those milling around on the street as you make a loop around the block. Rides will be available from 2-4 p.m. The rides are sponsored by Forest City Auto.
2. Stop Hunger, Start Hope “Breadline” fundraiser.
Get there early to have your pick of freshly baked breads and other sweets. The breads go fast, so be sure to pick up a loaf before heading back out to check out all of the other festivities. The breadline will be available from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at 109 North Clark Street.
3. Santa’s Workshop.
Santa will have helpers ready and willing to help kids pick out an inexpensive gift inside the American Legion. The gifts can be for parents, grandparents or even siblings. Parents may drop off their kids to shop with assistance from elves. Gifts are priced from 50 cents to $3. The event is from 1-4 p.m.
4. Mrs. Claus.
Where Mrs. Claus goes, Santa isn’t too far behind. From 2-4 p.m., the pair can usually be found wandering up and down Clark Street. It’s a good time to stop and take a photo. Or to give Santa a few Christmas ideas. They are being sponsored by Black Hills Energy.
