FOREST CITY | Forest City High School students will be competing in the Top of Iowa Speech Festival on Saturday, Dec. 2, at Lake Mills High School.
All the schools in the Top of Iowa Conference are eligible to participate in the festival.
Scott Bertelsen, one of the Forest City High School speech coaches, said the festival is the first speech contest of the season, so the judges aren't as critical as they are for later contests.
He said the festival is known as a "rough draft" contest because it allows students to get feedback on their performance so they can improve for future contests.
The public is encouraged to attend. No admission will be charged.
The festival begins at 8 a.m. and is expected to be over by 1 p.m.
The performance times for the Forest City students weren't available by the deadline for this week's Summit, but anyone who would like to know is welcome to call Bertelsen or Josh Sparrgrove at the high school, 641-585-2324.
