FOREST CITY | Forest City Police Chief Doug Jenson is retiring this spring.
Jenson, who has been in law enforcement for 23 years, has submitted a letter to the city saying he will retire effective May 18.
Before being hired as the Forest City police chief in 2014, Jenson was a part-time patrol officer with the Clear Lake Police Department.
He served as the Winnebago County Sheriff from 2008 to 2012. Before that he was a deputy with the department for 15 years.
Jenson was not available for comment before the Summit's early copy deadline last week because he had already left for Thanksgiving.
During his interview with the city council for the Forest City police chief position, Jenson said he would love to make the job the final stop in his law enforcement career, according to a October 2014 story in the Summit.
