FOREST CITY | The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors plan to appoint a new county attorney on Tuesday.

The board interviewed the following four candidates last week:

• Kelsey Beenken, Hancock County magistrate.

• Todd Chelf, senior assistant county attorney for Des Moines County.

• Brendon Moe, assistant Cerro Gordo County attorney.

• Judy K. Parks, former Ames city attorney and former prosecutor in Marshall and Story counties.

The supervisors were expected to interview two more candidates Wednesday, but both withdrew their names from consideration.

Those candidates were Daniel Gonnerman, Boone County magistrate; and Jonathan Murphy, assistant Wright County attorney.

The individual the supervisors choose will succeed Adam Sauer, who has been appointed to serve as an associate district judge.

Hancock County Attorney Blake Norman will serve as special prosecutor for Winnebago County until the new county attorney can start work.

The start date for the new county attorney is tentatively set for March 5.
