FOREST CITY | BrickStreet Theatre is holding auditions for the holiday classic, White Christmas, being performed on Dec. 8-10 and Dec. 15-17 in Forest City.
Auditions will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26 and Wednesday, Sept. 27, with possible call backs on Thursday, Sept. 28.
“We are looking forward to this being the largest cast in recent Brickstreet productions and we hope to have a lot of new faces to Brickstreet and theatre in general,” Frederickson said. “White Christmas is such a beloved classic and perfect show for people to venture on stage for the first time.
White Christmas is a musical based on the Paramount Pictures 1954 film of the same name, with the libretto by David Ives and Paul Blake, with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin.
Directing the BrickStreet production is Lynnea Fredrickson. Musical directors are Jon Happel and Jackie Imsande
Men and women age 14 and up are invited to audition as well as girls age 8-12.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare one to two minutes of an American standard (Berlin, Cole Porter, R&H, etc.) or a Christmas carol. If you're interested in a principle role be prepared to read from the script and sight read music.
“As a director, it's extremely important to cultivate a community in the casts I work with while presenting a quality show because that's what community theatre is all about,” Frederickson said. “We also look forward to partnering with members of surrounding towns and local veterans for this production.”
